The Himalayan region of Upper Mustang in Nepal with its high altitude and freezing temperatures stimulate the growth of the Chyangra goats' soft undercoat.
The Chyangra goat is the only goat in Nepal to produce cashmere, also known as pashmina.
In spring, herders gently comb the goats by hand, collecting the soft fibres that have protected them through freezing winters.
